Originally located between Christ Church (Christuskirche) and Old Fortress (Alte Feste) in Windhoek.
Statue of Reiterdenkmal (Equestrian Monument), a.k.a. Südwester Reiter (Rider of South-West), Windhoek, Namibia. Namibia is a former colony of Germany. The monument built in 1912, commemorates the German security forces who fell in battle during the 1904 rebellion of the Herero and Namaqua people. As this rebellion led to the genocide of these people, this statue is still a bone of contention with the Namibian people.
